Neue Abfüllung | Cider Club | Danke 

Schon lange warten wir darauf, Euch einen ganz besonderen Cider vorstellen zu können. Endlich ist es so weit: Vorhang auf für "Forêt Noire"!

Warum kommt dieser Cider so französisch daher? Weil es sich um eine einzigartige Kombination aus schwarzwälder Streuobst und französischen Sorten handelt.

Wie es dazu kam ist eine längere Geschichte (die hier erzählt wird). Das Ergebnis ist eine wunderbare Verschmelzung von Cider und Cidre: die eleganten Bitternoten und leichte Süße des Cidre, und die frische Säure und kräftigen Aromen der spontan vergorenen Streuobstäpfel. Hier kann man wirklich sagen: Das Ganze ist mehr als die Summe der Teile.

Für diese besondere Flasche braucht es natürlich auch ein besonderes Etikett. Das abgebildete Gemälde hat Patrick's Großvater Theodor Müller 1980 geschaffen. Die verschneiten Bäume stehen direkt hinter unserem Schwarzwaldhaus, inzwischen um einiges größer. 

So fügt sich eins ins andere: Dieser Cider ist in seinem Herstellungsprozess das Ergebnis unserer Erfahrungen in den vergangenen 5 Jahren, seitdem wir anfingen im Schwarzwald Cider zu produzieren. Die Mischung aus Schwarzwälder Streuobst und Cidre-Äpfeln aus Franken repräsentiert die Kooperation und gegenseitige Unterstützung von kleinen Cidermanufakturen, die wir uns wünschen und fördern. Und das Gemälde, das seit Jahrzehnten an der Wand hängt, passt einfach perfekt zu diesem Etikett. 

In allen unseren Cider und Perry steckt viel Herzblut. Aber in diesem ein bisschen mehr.

Cider Club

Die erste Clublieferung ist raus! Vielen Dank an die erste Gruppe von Abonnenten für ihr Interesse und Vertrauen. Wir sind super excited über die positive Resonanz und haben schon viele Ideen für das kommende Jahr.

Es war ein aufregendes Jahr und arbeitsreiches Jahr. Wir blicken zurück und sind dankbar: Für die vielen neuen Ciderfreunde, die über die Fernsehsendung Land und Lecker zu uns gefunden haben; für die gute Obsternte, trotz aller Klimawirren; für die Unterstützung durch Familie, Freunde, und natürlich Euch.

It's been a long time in the making, but we are finally ready to release a very special cider: "Forêt Noire"!

Why the french name? Because this cider is a franco-german hybrid, incorporating french apple varieties and production methods into our very regionally focused style.

The origin story is a bit involved (read all about it here); but suffice to say that the result is a wonderful blend of cider and cidre: elegant bitter notes and light residual sweetness of a cidre, balanced with the fresh acidity of german cider apples and the funky flavors of a Schwarzwald wild ferment. Truly a case of the sum being greater than the parts!

Of course this special bottle required a similarly special label. The image is an oil painting that Patrick's grandfather Theoder Müller created in 1980, depicting a group of trees just behind our house here in the Black Forest (meanwhile a lot taller). 

This cider is a synthesis of many things. In its production method, it is the result of our experiences and learnings from 5 years of cider-making in the Black Forest. The mix of german and french apple varieties - the latter sourced from another maker in Franken - is emblematic of our desire to network and collaborate with other small makers. The label art is a bit of family history, that turned out to be the perfect choice for this bottle.

All of our ciders and perries are a labor of love. This one a bit more than others.

Hurray! The first club shipment is out the door. Big thanks to our initial group of subscribers. We are super excited about the positive response. We are already hatching ideas for all the cool things we can offer to members in the coming year.
